With over 30 years' design and construction experience, including 9 years in South Africa and the UK, Robert established his practice, Robert Elks & Associates, in 2001.
His early experience in South Africa involved working on the design and construction of major infrastructure, including coal-fired power stations up to 4000 MW. He spent several years on coal reclamation, water pollution control systems, dams and motorway projects.
In the UK, Robert gained valuable experience on a major marine terminal, as well as commercial, industrial and resort projects.
Upon returning to Australia, Robert worked for two years on the 53 storey Central Park development in St George's Terrace. He also began a long association with WA resource developments, including iron ore, gold, nickel and base metals.
In the last 10 years, he has extended practice activities into brownfield oil and gas infrastructure projects on the north-west shelf. The practice has evolved into a highly skilled specialist civil and structural engineering consultancy focusing on resource projects.
